Parts of Abbey Road Will be Closing for Utility Repair
Abbey Road in Dalton will be closed for up to 35 days starting from April 13th. The closure is to allow Electricity North West to carry out utility works. The road is expected to reopen by May 18th.
The closure affects the section from Market Street junction to Goose Green junction. A signed diversion route will guide motorists around the closed section.
Details of the Closure
The closure will last for approximately 5 weeks. It is necessary to complete important utility maintenance and upgrades. This work is essential to maintain reliable electricity services in the area.
Diverted Routes for Motorists
Motorists will be redirected via a signed diversion. The route uses unrestricted sections of Abbey Road, Park Road, the A590, Askam Road, Romney Park, and Skelgate. This ensures traffic can continue to flow despite the closure.
Access for Emergency Services and Non-Motorised Users
Emergency vehicles will have access through the closure at all times. Pedestrians and cyclists can also pass but must dismount while on the closed section. This ensures safety for all road users during the works.
