Armed police deployments are usually used when officers believe there may be a higher level of risk. This can include concerns about weapons, threats to safety, or situations where specialist officers are needed.
However, the presence of armed police does not always mean that a firearm has been used or found.

The area is normally busy with traffic, pedestrians and people visiting nearby shops and businesses.
Why Armed Officers May Be Called
Armed police are specially trained officers who can respond to incidents where there may be a serious risk to the public, officers or people inside a property.
They may be used to support arrests, search addresses, respond to reports of weapons, or help deal with threats where standard officers need extra support.
Police forces do not usually release full details immediately, especially if an investigation is ongoing. More information may be provided once officers have completed early enquiries.
