Arts4All CIC, a not-for-profit organisation in Barrow, is showcasing a seagull-themed art exhibition at two locations from late April to early May. The exhibition features around 450 three-dimensional seagull artworks created by members of the local community.
The event runs from April 22 to May 3 at the Dock Museum and from April 25 to May 2 at The Bridge in Portland Walk. It aims to raise funds for North West Blood Bikes Lancs and Lakes and support Arts4All CIC’s ongoing work.
About Arts4All CIC
Arts4All CIC has been active for five years, growing from a small initiative into a successful organisation with 17 volunteers. It focuses on engaging diverse groups in Barrow through creative activities.
Community Participation
The exhibition includes contributions from approximately 450 individuals, including children from schools and brownie groups, participants from St Mary’s Hospice, members of the deaf community, and others. The artworks cover a wide range of mediums such as pottery and knitting.
Exhibition Theme and Background
Entitled ‘What the Flock – The Seaquel’, the exhibition follows a previous sheep-themed event held five years ago called ‘What the Flock’. This new theme celebrates local wildlife and creativity.
Fundraising Efforts
All seagull artworks will be auctioned to the public, with proceeds benefiting North West Blood Bikes Lancs and Lakes and supporting Arts4All CIC’s activities. This fundraising aspect adds a charitable dimension to the event.
Community Impact
Gillian Leviston, a director of Arts4All CIC, emphasises the exhibition’s role in bringing the community together. She highlights that many local people have limited access to art and that engaging in creative activities supports mental wellbeing.
The exhibition provides an inclusive platform for artistic expression and community connection in Barrow.
