Jacques was stopped by police while driving an Audi on Ironworks Road. Officers requested a roadside screening test, which indicated he had been using cannabis. Upon being taken to the police station, he refused to provide a blood sample, citing a fear of needles.

Legal Proceedings

In court, Jacques pleaded guilty to multiple charges. These included failing to provide a specimen for analysis, driving while disqualified, and using a vehicle without insurance. He made his plea at the first opportunity on April 2nd.

Defendant’s Statement

Jacques chose not to have legal representation during the proceedings. He explained that he was not initially stopped by police but was checked by Ministry of Defence police. He acknowledged that he was still disqualified for a few more weeks when he drove.

Consequences of Actions

Magistrates imposed a 42 month driving ban on Jacques. Additionally, he was ordered to complete 80 hours of unpaid work as part of a 12-month community order. His driving licence was endorsed, and he was required to pay £85 in court costs and a £114 victim surcharge.

Reflection on Behaviour

Jacques admitted that there was no excuse for his actions. He stated that he does not typically drive while banned and is currently unemployed. His case highlights the serious consequences of driving offences and the importance of adhering to legal restrictions.
