Barrow’s Abbots Vale Park playground is set to receive £100,000 in funding for improvements. The money will be provided before April 2027, aiming to enhance the local play area for residents.
Councillor Andy Coles announced the funding during a community litter pick event organised by Abbotsvale Community Centre. The event also highlighted community efforts to improve the local environment.
Funding Announcement and Community Involvement
Cllr Andy Coles shared the exciting news about the playground funding during the event. He encouraged residents to contribute ideas and suggestions on how the playground could be improved.
The council aims to involve the community in planning the upgrades to ensure the improvements meet local needs.
How to Share Your Ideas
Residents can join a guided tour of Abbotsvale Park on Friday, 10 April, from 9am to 11am to discuss potential playground improvements in person.
Alternatively, suggestions can be sent via email to Cllr.AColes@barrowtowncouncil.gov.uk. This allows those unable to attend the tour to still have their voices heard.
Looking Ahead
The funding is expected to be used to enhance play facilities and possibly add new features. The council will consider community feedback carefully before finalising plans.
These improvements aim to create a safer and more enjoyable playground for children and families in Barrow.
