Barrow Raiders sign experienced front-rower Brad Singleton
Barrow Raiders have signed experienced prop forward Brad Singleton on a deal running until the end of the 2026 season.
The Barrow-born front-rower returns to Cumbria after a career spanning more than 15 years at the top level of British rugby league.
Singleton has made more than 300 senior appearances, with most of those coming in the Super League.
He joins the Raiders after leaving Castleford Tigers in May and is available for selection ahead of the club’s game against Dewsbury Rams.
The signing gives Barrow an experienced new option in the forward pack as the team continues its strong season.
More than 300 career appearances
Singleton began his senior career with Leeds Rhinos, making his debut for the club in 2011.
He spent several successful seasons at Leeds and was part of the squad that completed a domestic treble in 2015.
The Rhinos won the Super League Grand Final, Challenge Cup and League Leaders’ Shield during that season.
Singleton later went on to represent Wakefield Trinity, Wigan Warriors, Salford Red Devils and Castleford Tigers.
He was a regular member of Castleford’s squad during his first season with the club in 2025.
The prop forward also represented Ireland at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.
Returning to his hometown club
Singleton said returning to Barrow with his family made joining the Raiders feel like the right move.
He explained that he had a strong relationship with head coach Paul Crarey and wanted to finish his playing career with his hometown club after stepping away from the Super League.
Singleton said Barrow and its rugby league community meant a great deal to him.
He added that he grew up watching the Raiders and would be proud to finally represent the town on the pitch.
The forward also praised the current squad and said he hoped to support the club both on and off the field.
Raiders call signing a statement of intent
Barrow Raiders director of rugby Andy Gaffney said the club became interested in signing Singleton after learning that the player and his family were moving back to Cumbria.
He described Singleton as a proven winner whose experience would strengthen the squad for the rest of the season.
Gaffney said the signing showed the club’s ambition and would bring a different quality to the Raiders’ forward pack.
He also said it would be a proud moment for Singleton and his wider family when he first pulls on the Barrow shirt.
The club expects supporters to give the hometown player a warm welcome.
Available for Dewsbury fixture
Singleton goes straight into contention for Barrow’s upcoming match against Dewsbury Rams.
His arrival gives Paul Crarey another experienced forward as the Raiders look to build on their performances during the second half of the season.
The short-term deal currently runs until the end of the 2026 campaign.
No announcement has been made about whether the agreement includes an option to extend his stay beyond the current season.
For Singleton, the move offers the chance to end an established career by playing for the club he supported as a child.
For the Raiders, it brings a player with extensive Super League, international and major final experience into the squad at an important point in the season.
