Barrow AFC bring on defender Paul Kalambayi
Barrow AFC have added defender Paul Kalambayi to their squad ahead of the new National League season.
The 26-year-old arrives at Holker Street after spending last season with Kidderminster Harriers.
Kalambayi will be reunited with Barrow manager Adam Murray. The pair worked together during Kidderminster’s successful promotion campaign.
The new signing adds more strength and experience to the Bluebirds’ defence as the club prepares for life back in the National League.
Defender reunites with Adam Murray
Kalambayi played under Murray at Kidderminster last season.
The campaign ended in promotion, giving the defender recent experience of being part of a successful side.
Barrow hope that his knowledge of Murray’s system will help him settle into the team.
Assistant manager Andy Taylor said Kalambayi’s style suits the way Barrow want to play.
He described him as a physical and aggressive defender who is strong at winning the ball.
Taylor also praised his athletic ability.
He said Kalambayi’s past experience of working with Murray was a major benefit.
Career began at Brentford
Kalambayi was born in Dulwich and spent time in Brentford’s youth system.
He later joined AFC Wimbledon, where he made his professional debut.
The defender went on to make 88 appearances for Wimbledon before leaving the club.
He joined Dagenham and Redbridge in 2024.
Kalambayi made 56 appearances during his time with the Daggers.
That spell gave him further experience in non-league football before his move to Kidderminster.
What will he bring to Barrow?
Kalambayi is known for his strength, pace and direct style of defending.
Barrow’s coaching staff believe he will fit the way Murray wants his team to play.
His ability to win the ball could make him an important part of the Bluebirds’ defence.
He also arrives with experience at both professional and non-league level.
The defender has played in the English Football League and in the National League system.
His recent promotion with Kidderminster may also be useful as Barrow aim to respond to last season’s relegation.
Barrow continue to rebuild squad
Kalambayi is the latest player to join Barrow during a busy summer at Holker Street.
Manager Adam Murray has been rebuilding the squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The club will compete in the National League following its relegation from League Two.
Barrow have already made several new additions as they aim to challenge near the top of the division.
Kalambayi’s arrival gives Murray another option at centre-back and adds a player who already knows what the manager expects.
The club has not announced the length of his contract.
