New Biscone Bakery Sells Out Within 90 Minutes on Opening Day

A new bakery in Barrow sold out within an hour and a half after opening its doors for the first time.

Biscone Bakery welcomed customers to its new premises on Scott Street on Saturday, June 6.

The business, owned by Megan Rampton, received strong support from local residents, customers and nearby businesses during its opening day.

Queues formed outside the bakery, with the shop selling out shortly after opening.

Busy First Day for Biscone Bakery

Biscone Bakery’s move to Scott Street marks an exciting new chapter for the business.

The bakery opened to the public for the first time at its new town centre premises on Saturday, June 6, and the response was immediate.

Customers arrived to try the bakery’s sweet treats, leading to a complete sell-out within 90 minutes.

The strong opening has been welcomed as a positive sign for the business and for Scott Street, as Barrow town centre continues to see new independent shops and food businesses attract local support.

Owner Thanks Customers and Local Businesses

Owner Megan Rampton thanked customers who have supported the bakery from its early days, as well as those discovering Biscone for the first time.

She said the opening marked only the beginning for the business.

Megan also thanked local businesses for sending flowers, gifts, cards and messages of support.

She said she had felt welcomed by the local business community and praised the way nearby businesses had come together to support each other.

The bakery first built up a following before moving into its new premises, with Megan referencing support dating back to her first blue hut on Walney.

Praise From Barrow BID

Barrow Business Improvement District also praised the new arrival, describing the opening day as a major success.

A spokesperson said there had been queues out of the door and that the bakery had sold out within an hour and a half.

The BID said people were pleased to see Biscone in the heart of the town centre and described it as an “incredible addition” to the street.

They also highlighted some of the items tried on opening day, including a matcha cookie, carrot cake and lemon shortbread.

Gift Shop Planned for the Premises

Plans are already in place to build on the bakery’s early success.

A gift shop is set to be added towards the front of the Scott Street premises, with hopes that it will be ready at some point next month.

This could give customers another reason to visit and help make the bakery a wider shopping stop, rather than just a place to buy cakes and sweet treats.

Bakery Set to Reopen

After its busy opening day, Biscone Bakery is set to reopen on Wednesday, June 10, from 10.30am.

Further updates about opening times, new items and menu additions will be shared through the Biscone Facebook page.

The strong opening has shown clear local demand for the bakery and has given Barrow another independent business to support in the town centre.
