Popular Italian Café Brizzolaris Opens New Sulla Via Site in Ulverston

A popular Furness café has expanded into Ulverston with the opening of its new Brizzolaris Sulla Via site.

Brizzolaris, which is already well known in Dalton-in-Furness, has opened the new Italian coffee bar and deli at Carlton House on Urswick Road.

The new venue marks the next step for a business with deep local roots. Brizzolaris has long been associated with Italian coffee, cakes, ice cream and a warm community feel.

The Ulverston site is expected to build on that reputation while offering something slightly different for customers.

A Second Site for a Well-Loved Local Name

The original Brizzolaris is based on Market Street in Dalton.

Its story goes back more than a century. Angelo and Concetta Brizzolari first opened an ice cream parlour in Dalton-in-Furness in 1908.

The name became part of local food history, with generations of families remembering Brizzolaris as a familiar and much-loved part of the town.

The business later entered a new chapter when Emma-Lea Dalton and her family took over the building at 52A Market Street.

After 18 months of renovation, Brizzolaris reopened on December 5, 2021. It first returned as an Italian coffee bar, serving coffee, cakes and ice cream.

It has since grown to offer breakfast and lunch too.

What Customers Can Expect at Sulla Via

The new Ulverston site has been described as an Italian coffee bar and deli.

The name Sulla Via means “on the way” in Italian, which fits the relaxed, deli-style feel of the new venue.

Customers can expect the same Brizzolaris focus on quality coffee, Italian-inspired food and friendly service.

The new site is likely to appeal to people looking for a casual coffee stop, a light lunch, or a place to meet friends.

It also gives Brizzolaris a wider presence across Furness, connecting Dalton and Ulverston through the same local brand.

A Business Built on Local Support

Brizzolaris has built much of its success on community support.

The Dalton site is known for its welcoming setting and broad menu, with options including breakfast, lunch, coffee, cakes and sweet treats.

The business has also highlighted gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options, helping it appeal to a wide range of customers.

The move into Ulverston suggests confidence in the brand and demand for its style of Italian-inspired café food.

For regular customers, Sulla Via offers a new place to visit. For people who have not yet been to Brizzolaris, it gives them a chance to try the business closer to Ulverston.

Supporting the Local Food Scene

The Furness area has a strong independent food and drink scene, with local cafés, restaurants, pubs, bakeries and takeaways all competing for attention.

A new opening from an established local business can help strengthen that scene.

It also shows how small businesses can grow when they build a strong identity and loyal customer base.

Brizzolaris has used its heritage as part of its story, while also updating the business for modern customers.

The new Sulla Via site continues that approach by taking the Brizzolaris name into a new town and a new format.

New Chapter for Brizzolaris

The opening of Brizzolaris Sulla Via is a notable moment for the business and for Ulverston’s food scene.

It brings together local history, Italian café culture and the growing demand for relaxed, independent places to eat and drink.

For Brizzolaris, it is another step in a story that began in Dalton more than 100 years ago.

For Ulverston, it means a new coffee bar and deli with a familiar Furness name behind it.
