Collision closes Carleton Avenue in Penrith
A collision led to the closure of a main road through Penrith on Tuesday, June 30.
Carleton Avenue, which forms part of the A686, was shut in both directions following the crash.
The closure was in place between the junctions with Carleton Road and Carleton Hall Road. Traffic in the surrounding area was reported to be moving slowly while the incident was dealt with.
Drivers faced delays
Motorists were unable to travel through the affected section of Carleton Avenue during the closure.
The road provides an important route through the eastern side of Penrith and links the town with roads heading towards Langwathby and Alston.
Drivers were advised to avoid the area and use an alternative route while emergency services responded.
No details were initially released about the number of vehicles involved or whether anyone was injured.
The road has since reopened, with the closure relating to the incident on June 30.
