Broken Chords is a deeply personal musical created and performed by Burton-in-Kendal couple Kirstie Pelling and Stuart Wickes. The production blends original music with narrative to explore themes of grief, love, and human connection, born out of the couple’s response to the sudden death of their son.

Over three years, the songs they wrote together evolved into a full-length musical play, performed in a cabaret-style setting. The show is directed by Joe Sumsion, former artistic director at Lancaster’s The Dukes Theatre, and aims to reach a wide audience while raising funds and awareness for the charity Every Life Matters.

Writing songs together provided a creative outlet for their grief, which eventually developed into a full theatrical production.
