The 38th Cumbria Classic Weekend is scheduled for August 22-23, featuring a classic car tour and a motorsport show. This event promises to attract up to 800 classic cars and numerous spectators.
Rose & Thistle Tour
On Saturday, August 22, the Rose & Thistle Tour will commence in Carlisle. This non-competitive 135-mile route will take participants through the scenic Borders and northern Cumbria. The tour will start at Houghton Hall Garden Centre, located just east of Junction 44 on the M6.
Tour Details
The route heads into Scotland, passing Kielder Water. Participants will enjoy a coffee break at Tower Knowe and lunch at Hexham Racecourse before returning to Carlisle. The entry fee is £80 for Wigton Motor Club members and £90 for non-members, which includes refreshments and lunch for two.
Cumbria Classic & Motorsport Show
On Sunday, August 23, the Cumbria Classic & Motorsport Show will take place at Dalemain Historic Mansion and Gardens near Penrith. The show will open to the public at 11 am, with an admission fee of £10 for adults. Children under 16 can enter for free.
Event Highlights
This year’s show will focus on Bentley and Lotus models, featuring dedicated displays for both. The event will include 20 classes of vehicles, trade and craft stalls, food vendors, and a children’s treasure hunt. Popular Autotests will also return, enhancing the day’s entertainment.
Visitor Information
Last year, the show attracted over 4,000 visitors, and this year, the number of cars is capped at 800. Attendees are advised to approach Dalemain via the A592 for easier access. For those interested in participating, the deadline for car entries is July 10.
