Shed One Distillery, founded by Andy and Zoe Arnold-Bennett, has achieved the distinction of being a double finalist in the North West Family Business Awards 2026. Celebrating its tenth year, the micro-distillery is recognised in two categories: Food and Drink Producers (Small Business) and Leisure and Tourism.
The distillery’s success highlights its growth from humble beginnings to an award-winning establishment known for its artisan spirits and visitor experiences.
Founding and Growth
Established in a modest 7x7ft garden shed, Shed One has expanded significantly over the past decade. The distillery now operates from a converted calf shed and produces a range of products including London Dry gins, botanical vodkas, spirit liqueurs, cocktails, and jelly marmalade. This growth reflects the dedication of the husband-and-wife team and their commitment to quality craft spirits.
Visitor Experience and Awards
Shed One offers a variety of visitor experiences such as distillery tours, tastings, and interactive sessions. Notably, it won the Cumbria Tourism ‘Experience of the Year 2025’ award for its ‘Make your own distilled spirits’ experience. These activities aim to engage visitors and provide a welcoming atmosphere, making them feel at home while enjoying the distillery’s offerings.
Recognition and Impact
Zoe Arnold-Bennett expressed pride in the team’s achievements, emphasising the importance of making visitors smile and enjoy their time at the distillery. Being shortlisted in two categories among many quality family businesses in the region is a significant accomplishment that reflects the hard work and passion behind Shed One.
