Free Bug Safari Trail Launched for Children in Dalton
A new free garden trail has opened in Dalton. Giving children and families an outdoor activity to enjoy throughout the summer.
The Dalton Bug Safari has been created in the Reading Garden on Abbey Road. And challenges younger visitors to find nine hidden bugs.
How the Dalton Bug Safari Works
Children can collect a trail sheet before exploring the garden and searching for each of the hidden bugs.
Every bug comes with a clue. Once all nine have been found, the clues will reveal a secret word.
Families can complete the trail at their own pace while enjoying the recently renamed Reading Garden.
Certificate and Fridge Magnet Available
Children who complete the challenge can take their finished trail sheet to Dalton Town Hall.
They will receive a Dalton Junior Nature Detective Certificate and an exclusive fridge magnet to mark their achievement.
A spokesperson for Dalton with Newton Town Council said: “We’re delighted to launch our Dalton Bug Safari in the Reading Garden – a fun, free activity for children and families to enjoy throughout the summer.
“Once you’ve completed the challenge, bring your trail sheet to Dalton Town Hall to collect your Dalton Junior Nature Detective Certificate and exclusive fridge magnet to celebrate your achievement.”
More Trails Planned Throughout the Year
The council has confirmed that the Bug Safari is only the first trail planned for the garden.
New themes and challenges are expected to be introduced throughout the year, giving families a reason to return and take part again.
The spokesperson added: “This is just the beginning – the trail will change throughout the year, with exciting new themes and challenges to enjoy, so keep an eye on our Facebook page to see what’s coming next.”
