Firefighters Called to Flat Above Pig & Whistle in Cartmel
Firefighters were called to a fire at a flat above the Pig & Whistle pub in Cartmel this morning.
Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service responded to the incident on Aynsome Road at around 6.50am, 24th April. The flat is located above the Pig & Whistle, a pub owned by Robinsons Brewery.
Crews used two breathing apparatus to tackle the fire inside the property. They also used a fan to ventilate the building and checked for any remaining hotspots before leaving the scene.
The operation lasted for around two hours.

The incident took place at a residential flat above the Pig & Whistle, a well-known pub on Aynsome Road in Cartmel.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and entered the property wearing breathing apparatus. This equipment allows crews to work safely in smoke-filled or unsafe conditions.
After dealing with the fire, crews ventilated the property to clear smoke and fumes. They also checked the building for hotspots, which are areas that may still be hot enough to reignite.

The business said the pub would be closed while the situation was dealt with and thanked customers for their understanding.
