Furness Neighbourhood Policing Team Rebranded

4 english police officers

On April 2nd, 2026, the Barrow Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) was officially renamed to the Furness NPT. This change aims to enhance the connection between police forces and the communities they serve.

The rebranding reflects an internal update in the supervision of neighbourhood policing areas. Ulverston, Low Furness, and High Furness are now included in the Furness NPT.

Purpose of Neighbourhood Policing Teams

NPTs are designed to strengthen relationships between police and local residents. By fostering these connections, they aim to prevent crime and reduce anti-social behaviour.

No Changes to Officers

A spokesperson for the Furness NPT confirmed that there will be no changes to the officers or Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) serving the area. Residents can expect the same level of service and support.

Community Engagement

The NPT encourages community engagement. Residents can voice their concerns through the NPT’s Facebook page or by emailing enquiries@cumbria.police.uk. This open line of communication is vital for addressing local issues.
