Police Appeal for Witnesses
Officers are now asking for help from anyone who saw what happened.

Anyone who was in the area at the time is also being asked to come forward. This includes drivers who may have dashcam footage from Ulverston Road, Swarthmoor, or the nearby stretch of the A590.
Dashcam footage can be useful in cases like this because it may show the cars involved, the build-up to the incident, or what happened after the two men got out of their vehicles.
Incident Happened on Busy South Cumbrian Route
The A590 is one of the main roads through South Cumbria. It links areas including Barrow, Ulverston, Greenodd and the wider Furness area with the M6.
Because of this, the road can be busy during the day, especially with local traffic, commuters, delivery vehicles and visitors travelling across the region.
The reported incident happened in Swarthmoor, close to Ulverston. Police have not released further details about the vehicles involved, apart from the appeal for the driver of the black Peugeot 2008 who may have witnessed the incident.
What Happens Next?
The arrested man has been released under investigation. This means police enquiries are still ongoing and no final decision has yet been made on what action may follow.
Officers may now review witness accounts, any available CCTV, dashcam footage and other evidence linked to the incident.
Police have not said whether anyone else is being sought in connection with the report.
