Motorcyclist taken to hospital after Barrow crash closes road for nearly four hours
A motorcyclist was taken to hospital after a collision involving a car and motorbike closed a major road in Barrow for almost four hours.
Police received a report of the crash on Walney Road at 4.55pm on Monday, June 22.
Emergency services attended the scene, including an air ambulance, and the road was closed while crews dealt with the incident.
The motorcyclist was taken to hospital for treatment. Police said the rider’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
Walney Road reopened at around 8.40pm, approximately three hours and 45 minutes after the collision was first reported.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses and anyone who may have dashcam footage of the crash.
Car and motorbike involved
The collision involved a car and a motorcycle, although police have not released further details about either vehicle.
Emergency services were called to Walney Road shortly before 5pm.
An air ambulance was among the resources sent to the scene, alongside police and land ambulance crews.

Earlier reports described the affected stretch as being between Wilkie Road and Ormsgill.
The closure caused disruption during the evening travel period, with motorists unable to use the route for nearly four hours.
Walney Road is one of the busiest routes in Barrow and provides an important link for residents, businesses and people travelling into and out of the town.
The road eventually reopened at around 8.40pm after emergency services had completed their work at the scene.
Rider’s injuries not life-changing
Police confirmed that the rider of the motorcycle was taken to hospital following the collision.
