Barrow Parking Prices to Rise Starting April 3rd

Local council has announced a rise in parking charges across multiple car parks in Barrow. The new fees will take effect from April 3rd.

The increase affects Fell Street, Hall Street, Oldham Street, Whittaker Street, Emlyn Street, and Market Street car parks. Annual parking permits will also become more expensive.

Details of Parking Fee Increases

For Fell Street, Hall Street, Oldham Street, and Whittaker Street:

  • Parking up to 20 minutes will cost 80p, up from 70p.
  • Parking up to 1 hour will rise from £1.80 to £2.00
  • 2 hour parking fees will increase from £2.90 to £3.20.
  • 3 hour parking will go up from £3.70 to £4.10.

Blue badge holders will still be able to park free for up to three hours in these locations.

Changes at Emlyn Street and Market Street

At Emlyn Street and Market Street car parks, the charges will also increase:

  • For 1 hour it will rise from £1.80 to £2.00.
  • Parking for 2 hours will rise from £2.90 to £3.20.
  • Fees for up to 4 hours will go up from £3.70 to £4.10.
  • The maximum 10 hour charge will increase from £7.30 to £8.10.

Annual Permit Price Adjustments

The cost of annual parking permits will also increase. A standard annual permit will rise from £783 to £861.30. Market traders will see their annual permit fees increase from £132 to £145.20.

Discounted rates for bulk permit purchases will also change. For 10 to 19 permits, the cost will be £774.40 each. For 20 to 29 permits, the price will be £688.60 each. For 30 or more permits, the cost will be £602.80 each.

Parking Regulations Remain Unchanged

The council confirmed that parking restrictions and penalties for non-compliance will stay the same as before. Motorists should continue to follow existing rules to avoid fines.
