People Helping People Fund Supporting Community Projects in Barrow
The People Helping People Fund in Barrow continues to support local initiatives aimed at helping vulnerable members of the community, with funded projects expected to deliver their work by May 2026.
The fund was created as part of the Barrow Social Impact Fund, with £85,000 allocated to support community projects across the town. Local residents played a key role in shaping the programme, taking part in workshops to help decide how the funding should be used and which priorities should be supported.
Supporting Local Communities
The fund focuses on projects that bring people together and improve life for those facing challenges. This includes initiatives that create opportunities for young people, improve community spaces, support recovery from alcohol or drug use, and highlight positive stories in Barrow.
Grants were available to individuals working with community groups as well as charities and organisations with an annual income below £200,000.
Community-Led Funding
The funding programme was developed in partnership with Team Barrow and managed by Cumbria Community Foundation, ensuring local residents were involved in shaping decisions about how the funding would benefit the community.
By placing local people at the centre of the process, the People Helping People Fund aims to strengthen community groups and deliver projects that make a positive difference across Barrow before the funding period concludes in May 2026.
