On March 13th, a police chase unfolded in Ambleside when a suspect fled after being pulled over. The Cumbria Police Operational Support Unit shared video footage of the incident, highlighting the dramatic pursuit.
The suspect initially acknowledged that the Volkswagen car he was driving belonged to him. However, he quickly ran away, abandoning his Capri-Sun and another person in the vehicle. The police officer, determined to apprehend him, chased him through the busy town centre.

Chase Details
During the chase, the officer was heard telling the suspect, “you’re not going to outrun me.” This statement underscored the officer’s commitment to catching the fleeing individual despite the traffic around them.
Apprehension of the Suspect
After a brief pursuit, the officer successfully caught up to the suspect. He tackled him to the ground and drew his taser as a precaution, ensuring the situation remained under control.
Arrest and Charges
The suspect was placed in handcuffs and subsequently arrested for multiple offences. These included drug supply and driving-related charges. Additionally, he provided false information to the police during the encounter.
