Police Officer in Hospital After Motorbike Hit and Run

A police officer remains in hospital after being injured in a hit-and-run involving a motorbike in Barrow.

Cumbria Police were called to the Lesh Lane area of Barrow at around 11.20pm on Friday, May 1st. After reports that a motorbike was being ridden dangerously. Officers attended the area and, while they were there, a motorbike collided with a police constable.

The rider did not stop after the collision. The officer, a female PC, was taken to hospital with a broken arm. Police are now working to identify the motorcyclist and are appealing for witnesses, CCTV and doorbell footage.

Reports of Dangerous Riding in Barrow

The incident began after police received reports of a motorbike being ridden dangerously in the Lesh Lane area.

Officers attended the scene late on Friday evening to respond to those concerns.

While police were in the area, the motorbike collided with a PC.

Rider Failed to Stop After Collision

After the collision, the motorbike rider did not stop at the scene.

Police are treating the incident as a hit-and-run and are continuing efforts to identify the person riding the bike.

No arrest has been confirmed at this stage.

Officer Taken to Hospital

The injured police officer was taken to hospital following the incident.

She remains in hospital after suffering a broken arm.

Cumbria Police have not released further details about her condition.

Police Appeal for Information

Officers are urging anyone who knows the identity of the motorcyclist to come forward.

They are also asking for any information which may help their investigation.

This could include details about the motorbike, the rider, or anything seen in the Lesh Lane area before or after the collision.

CCTV and Doorbell Footage Sought

Police are especially keen to hear from people who may have CCTV or doorbell camera footage.

Footage may show the incident itself, or the time leading up to or following it.

Even footage that does not clearly show the collision could still help officers trace the rider or the route taken by the motorbike.
