Proposal for 19 Storage Units at Ulverston Auction Mart

Ulverston Auction Mart

Mr Simon Case has submitted a new application to Westmorland and Furness Council for 19 metal storage containers at Ulverston Auction Mart. This follows a previous application for 20 units, which was withdrawn due to concerns about access and visual impact.

The current proposal aims to replace sheep pens on the northern part of the site with a secure self-storage compound. This development is intended to provide additional income for the Auction Mart, which has been operational for over 50 years.

Details of the Proposal

The storage containers will be finished in muted colours like dark green or dark grey. The design aims to ensure limited visibility from the surrounding area, minimising visual disruption.

Access and Security Measures

The proposal includes a robust online booking system and passcode-controlled access. Customer access will be limited to the hours of 8am to 9pm, ensuring security and reducing potential disturbances.

Planning History

The initial application faced rejection due to insufficient details regarding access and visual impact. The revised application aims to address these issues while maintaining the operational integrity of the Auction Mart.
