Road Closures and Parking Restrictions in Barrow Starting May 1st

Starting May 1st, Barrow will implement road closures and parking restrictions due to planned construction works. These measures are set to last for up to 18 months, depending on the progress of the works.

Details of the Road Closures

The restrictions will affect a section of Foundry Street, prohibiting vehicles from proceeding from its junction with New Street for approximately 40 metres to the north-west. Pedestrian and dismounted cyclist access will remain open throughout the construction period.

Vehicle Diversions

A signed diversion will guide vehicles around the closure. Traffic will be rerouted via unrestricted sections of Foundry Street, Lumley Street, Marsh Street, and Salthouse Road (A5087).

Parking Restrictions

Parking will be banned at all times in several locations, including:

  • Foundry Street (west side) from Salthouse Road (A5087) to Raglan Street.
  • Foundry Street (east side) for 20 metres north from Salthouse Road (A5087).
  • Lumley Street (both sides) extending west for approximately 20 metres from Foundry Street.
  • Lumley Street (south side) from Mosley Street to Pottery Street.
  • Pottery Street (east side) extending south-east for 70 metres from Lumley Street.
  • Pottery Street (west side) from 30 metres north-east of Macadam Street for 25 metres north-west.

Duration and Enforcement

The council has the authority to enforce these restrictions for up to 18 months. The measures will only be in effect when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
