Cumbrian Boy Accused of Multiple Rapes Given Two-Year Sexual Risk Order

A 16-year-old boy from North Cumbria has been accused of multiple serious sexual offences, including three counts of rape against girls aged 15 and 13.

During a court hearing at Carlisle’s Rickergate court, the teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared with his parents. The court has imposed strict prohibitions similar to those given to convicted sex offenders.

The allegations include two counts of rape against two 15-year-old girls and one count against a 13-year-old girl. Additionally, he is accused of inciting another 13-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity. While the boy admitted to sexual contact with a third 15-year-old girl, no criminal complaint has been made regarding this encounter.

Details of Allegations

During the court proceedings, barrister Lujzka Halsall-Fischel outlined the specifics of the allegations. One of the alleged incidents involved a 15-year-old girl, referred to as Girl A, who was reportedly raped in a cemetery. The boy admitted to having sex with her but claimed it was consensual. However, no further action will be taken on this allegation as the girl felt unable to provide a statement.

Another allegation involves Girl B, also 15, who he allegedly raped while she was in a tent. This case remains under investigation. Girl C, another 15-year-old, has made no complaint despite the boy admitting to sexual intercourse with her.

School Concerns and Behaviour

Concerns have also been raised by the boy’s school regarding his interactions with younger female pupils. The barrister noted that he used tactics to manipulate the alleged victims. Including instructing them not to tell anyone about their encounters and attempting to normalise his behaviour.

Legal Proceedings and Future Support

Defence lawyer Duncan Campbell highlighted that the boy’s parents have sought support for him over the past ten years, which was not previously provided. However, following these allegations, they are now receiving assistance. The teenager’s mother described him as a changed person, more mature, with plans for the future.

Two-Year Sexual Risk Order

Magistrates have approved a two-year sexual risk order, which includes stringent controls on his online activities and prohibits unsupervised contact with any female under 16. This order aims to protect the public, particularly young girls, while the issue of potential criminal proceedings remains undecided.
