Challenges Coming for Barrow Raiders
Barrow Raiders face one of their biggest challenges of the season. As they travel south to take on London Broncos in the preliminary round of the 1895 Cup.
Despite a strong start to the season, the match will be a difficult test for the Cumbrian team.
A Challenging Cup Fixture
The game will be played in London and is expected to be a tough encounter for Barrow.
Coach Paul Crarey has described the Broncos as one of the strongest teams in the competition. Making the trip an important early challenge for his squad.
Barrow have lost just once this season so far. With their only defeat coming against Sheffield.
Squad Changes for the Match
Barrow will travel with a 20-man squad, although several players are unavailable.
One notable addition is centre Seth Woodend, who has been recalled from a loan spell at Whitehaven. Woodend impressed during his loan period, scoring two tries in two appearances.
Forward Greg Richards also returns to the squad after serving a two-match suspension.
Help from the Rugby League Community
Initially, Barrow planned to travel to London on the day of the game.
However, donations from across the rugby league community have allowed the team to travel a day earlier and stay overnight. Helping the players prepare properly for the match.
Coach Paul Crarey thanked those who contributed. Saying the support would help the team relax and focus before the game.
Opponents Also Dealing With Injuries
London Broncos also have several players unavailable due to injury.
However, Lewis Bienek and Jeremiah Simbiken are expected to return for the fixture, strengthening the Broncos’ lineup.
Other players remain sidelined after failing head injury assessments following last weekend’s match.
Looking Ahead
While the match represents a difficult test, it also offers Barrow the opportunity to prove themselves against one of the competition’s strongest teams.
With a solid start to the season behind them, the Raiders will be hoping to produce another strong performance and progress in the 1895 Cup.
