A group including clinical staff from St Mary’s Hospice completed a challenging Kilimanjaro trek. Their efforts raised £62,068.33 for the Ulverston-based hospice. This funding will support the hospice’s ongoing work in the local community.

Mel Dixon, Events and Challenges Manager at St Mary’s, expressed pride in the team and gratitude to donors. She highlighted the lasting impact the funds will have on patients and families needing care and support.

The Kilimanjaro Challenge

The team faced tough conditions including high altitudes and difficult terrain. The dual-summit challenge required months of training and preparation. Their success resulted in a remarkable fundraising total to benefit the hospice’s vital services.

Supporting Local Hospice Care

St Mary’s Hospice provides compassionate care to patients and families in the area. The funds raised will help maintain and expand these essential services. The hospice relies on community support to continue its work.

Encouraging Future Fundraising Treks

The hospice hopes the Kilimanjaro trek’s success will inspire more people to take part in charity challenges. Later this year, supporters will trek Mount Toubkal in Morocco. Another expedition is planned to reach Everest Base Camp.

Looking Ahead

Plans for 2026 expeditions are already underway. The team aims to continue offering popular opportunities for supporters to raise funds. Full details about upcoming events and treks are available on the St Mary’s Hospice website.
