Ulverston canal market returns this Sunday for its biggest event yet

A popular market beside Ulverston Canal will return this weekend with more traders, street food and family activities.

The High Summer Fortnightly Fayre will take place on Sunday, July 19, from 10.30am until 5.30pm.

It will be held beside the Rolling Bridge at Canal Foot, near Viking Ice Cream.

Organisers say it will be their biggest market so far, with new businesses joining several popular returning traders.

Food, crafts and sweet treats

Visitors will be able to browse a wide range of independent stalls throughout the day.

The market is expected to include:

  • Local street food
  • Handmade crafts
  • Cakes and sweet treats
  • Hot and cold drinks
  • Gifts and products from small businesses

The event forms part of a series of fortnightly markets held beside the canal during the summer.

Field opening for picnics and games

For the first time, organisers are also opening the nearby field to visitors.

People who buy something from the market will be able to use the space for picnics and games.

This will give families more room to relax, eat and enjoy the canal-side setting during the afternoon.

When and where is the market?

The Ulverston Canal Summer Fayre will take place:

Date: Sunday, July 19
Time: 10.30am to 5.30pm
Location: The Rolling Bridge, Canal Foot, Ulverston, LA12 9EL

The event is open to the public and is being promoted as a family-friendly day out.

Ulverston’s event calendar says visitors can expect plenty of food, craft stalls and other independent traders beside the canal.
