2 Barrow Nail Salons Targeted by Vandalism on Same Day

Two nail salons on Dalton Road in Barrow were targeted by vandalism on the same day. With one business also having cash stolen.

The incidents affected 91 Nail Studio, at 91 Dalton Road, and Angel Nails, at 124 Dalton Road. Both businesses were damaged on Saturday, May 9, with one incident taking place in the early hours and the other later that evening.

Despite the damage, both salons have remained open and are continuing to serve customers as usual.

Angel Nails Windows and Door Damaged

Angel Nails was targeted on the Saturday night.

The salon’s owner, Kim Dinh, said the business had its windows and door broken. She thanked customers and local people for their support following the incident.

She said no one was hurt, but described the damage as upsetting.

Kim said: “I really do work hard, so it’s very upsetting.”

She also said it was awful that another shop further up the road had been damaged too.

People Responsible Seen on Camera

According to Kim, those responsible for the damage at Angel Nails were captured on camera.

However, she said their faces were covered. The incident was described as “such horrible behaviour”.

Angel Nails remains open at 124 Dalton Road. The salon opens Monday to Saturday, from 9am to 7pm.

The business is hoping the community will continue to show support while repairs and enquiries continue.

91 Nail Studio Broken Into

The team at 91 Nail Studio, which is operated by Vivian Li, also confirmed that their shop had been targeted.

The Dalton Road salon was broken into during the early-hours incident.

Cumbria Police are investigating the break-in, which is also believed to have involved theft.

A police spokesperson said officers came across a property that appeared to have been criminally damaged at 5.07am on Saturday, May 9.

The spokesperson said entry had been forced to the premises and cash had been taken.

Police enquiries are still ongoing.

Concern for Local Businesses

The incidents have caused concern because both businesses are located on the same road and were targeted on the same day.

For small businesses, damage like this can be costly and stressful. It can also disrupt bookings, affect staff and create worry for customers.

Nail salons often rely on regular appointments, so even a short period of disruption can cause problems. Both businesses remaining open means customers can still attend their appointments, but the owners are now left dealing with damage, repairs and the emotional impact of what happened.

Community Support Important

The vandalism has prompted messages of support from local people.

Community backing can make a real difference after incidents like this. Customers can help by continuing to use the salons, sharing updates, and reporting anything they may know.

Anyone who saw suspicious activity on Dalton Road on Saturday, May 9, or who has CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage from the area, may be able to help police with their enquiries.

Salons Continue Trading

Both Angel Nails and 91 Nail Studio are still open despite being targeted.

The incidents show the pressure local traders can face when businesses are damaged by vandalism and theft. They also highlight the importance of supporting independent shops and salons that help keep Barrow’s town centre active.

Police enquiries into the break-in are continuing.
