Driver Flips Car While Performing Doughnuts on Cumbria Beach
A driver flipped their vehicle on the sands at Flookburgh in Cumbria on Monday, April 6th, after attempting to perform doughnuts on the beach.
Emergency services were called to the scene after the car flipped during the stunt. Which caused the vehicle to lose stability when its wheels dug into the soft sand. One person was injured and treated at the scene.
Major Emergency Response
Multiple emergency services attended the incident. Including Furness Coastguard Rescue Team and Arnside Coastguard. Alongside Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, North West Ambulance Service and Cumbria Police.
Initial reports left crews uncertain about how many people were involved and whether anyone was trapped inside the overturned vehicle, prompting a full scale response.
Casualty Treated at Scene
Fire crews provided immediate assistance to one casualty before paramedics took over treatment.
The extent of the injuries has not been confirmed. But the coordinated response highlights the seriousness of the incident.
Dangerous Beach Driving
The vehicle overturned while carrying out doughnuts, where a car spins in tight circles. A risky manoeuvre for amateur drivers.
On loose surfaces such as sand, this can quickly lead to a loss of control. In this case, the wheels dug into the ground, causing the car to tip and roll over.
Recovery and Environmental Concerns
The incident took place within an environmentally sensitive area. This raises concerns about potential damage and pollution.
Bay Search and Rescue assisted with the recovery operation. Using specialist vehicles to move the overturned car to a safer position above the high-water line.
