Adlard will join other renowned artists like Sean Phillips and Michael Lark for a live drawing session on April 17 at the University of Cumbria Barrow Campus. The event is free to attend and begins at 6pm.
Barrow Does Comics Festival Details
The festival includes a range of activities, including portfolio reviews by Adlard for those who pre-book. The goal is to create an inclusive event that involves the whole community and encourages local participation in the arts.
Adlard’s Connection to Barrow
Adlard emphasises the importance of bringing arts events to Barrow, a town not usually associated with the arts. He hopes the festival will become a regular event and help foster creativity in the area.
He notes that while LICAF events in Kendal and Bowness attract tourists, Barrow offers a chance to support a community that needs more cultural activities.
Encouraging New Artists
Adlard encourages aspiring artists to pursue their passion with determination and talent. He acknowledges the challenges of working in the creative industries but highlights the enjoyment and fulfilment it brings.
Meeting Fans and Sharing Inspiration
Adlard values the opportunity to meet fans and hear how his work has inspired or helped them. He describes the creative profession as isolating and appreciates events where artists can connect directly with their audience.
He invites everyone to attend the festival, assuring that the artists are friendly and motivated by passion rather than obligation.
